Probably one of the best gigs I've been to in 40 years
Having missed out on seeing GYBE! live in their original heyday, I was excited to get a ticket for that night. Interesting venue, never seen so many beards at a gig since the 70s - and that was just the band.
The sound was amazing from the start and it felt like the Troxy was going to take off into the stratosphere with the Hope Drone. This excellent recording captured the whole ambience and awesomeness of the evening and I'm still getting shivers down my spine listening to Gamelan and Albanian again.
Roll on their new album...!
Notes
Position: Standing in the pit area, ~3 meter from stage, slightly to the right.
Mics: clamped to sweater collar
There was a very tall guy standing in front of me, during some parts he may have been obstructing the mics from getting a good capture. There's some talking in the softer parts, and there may be the occasional screamer. My initial transfer was normalised with Audacity, and apparantly that had introduced a difference in balance. The left channel was louder than the right. Grigio offered to fix it, but then noticed it did not occur on the master. So he just improved the sound.
